Why can troponin, cardiac enzymes, full blood count creatinine, urea & electrolyte be odered for a pts with MI?
tropnin is a cardiac enzyme that is elevated during the course of a mi. creatinine is used to determine kidney function. if someone has a mi, the hearts ability to pump blood adequately will decrease. decrease blood flow to the kidney equals decrease kidney function and the creatinine level will rise. urea is also kidney function but creatinine is more specific. cause urea can be altered by fever and protein intake. the electrolytes used for cardiac function are sodium, potium and calcium. an increase or decrease in either can affect the heart, it can cause a dysrhythmia. which can lead to a heart attack
