Muslim girl??? is it ok to ask her out?

i'm a little scared because i heard muslims are strict about a lot of things when it comes to their daughters... i like her and she says she likes me but i'm hesitant because i don't want to cause her any trouble.. and i have a friend who started seeing a muslim girl and her brothers beat him up very badly one night and told him that they'd cut his manhood off if he goes near her and also hit her for it... i know all muslim families aren't this strict but don't know about how her family is about it.. what should i do????
