Are anti - hypertension drugs that have expired for over 6 months still be potent and safe?
As long as they are in the original packaging and have not been exposed to high temps or humidity, they are probably still good. The standards for label outdates in the US are written by the USP. These standards are very conservative. I would not hesitate to use antihypertensives that were 6 months outdated, as long as they were in original pack and had not been heated or drenched. On the other hand, selling outdated meds in a pharmacy is not legel. Also, my pharmacist told me once that once a drug is repackaged by the pharmacist, it should be used within six months of that date, and if not used, should be pitched. I do not know if this is common sense advice or law...
